Fire
Fighting and
Emergency Services
Due to the increased awareness of a fire fighter's health and safety, the N.F.P.A. was given the directive to develop a standard on the correct way to maintain personal protective equipment. Cleaning is a MUST!
We meet all guidelines stated in the current NFPA 1851 standards for cleaning and repair of Structural Fire Fighting Protective gear.
Why Wash
Your Gear at SportsWash?
Your garment should be washed at
least every six months or as soon as it has been soiled
or contaminated. The bunker clothing will require more
frequent washing depending on how extensively it is used
and also on the nature of the incidents at which it is
worn.
Frequent
cleaning reduces the health risk of exposure to toxins
and contaminants...these are potential sources for
rashes, irritations and possibly even skin cancer.
Soiled
garments reflect less radiant heat. Materials saturated
with hydrocarbons will absorb-not deflect-radiant heat
from a fire
Garments
with hydrocarbons are more likely to conduct electricity
which is a threat when there is any exposure to live
wiring. This leads to electrical shock.
Soiled
garments may actually be flammable and more likely to
ignite.
Soiled
garments will not breathe as well. Moisture barriers get
clogged up.
Garments
which are not cleaned frequently may wear out sooner.
Chemicals, oils, gases and solvents, if left in the
clothing, can weaken materials, thread and visibility of
the trim.

Testimonial
Lion Apparel, a world leader in the manufacturing of fire wear, has recognized the Esporta systems as being a beneficial method of cleaning as we isolate the jackets and pants during the wash and rinse cycles. This restricted movement reduces the rubbing and stress placed on bunker wear that is common with conventional drum cleaning machines.

SportsWash's
use of a patented system for cleaning
along with effective
detergents produce maximum results. Some key benefits to our system:
Low PH Level (less than 10)
Low temperature cleaning (under 100 degrees F.)
Degreasers, soot removal and low sudsing perform in both hard and soft water
Low mechanical agitation.
